The most sought-after pearls are black pearls.

These generous 7mm pearls will appear black, deepest ink blue, or dark purple, depending on the light. Not true rounds, they are oval, semi-round, and barrel shaped, with a soft, slightly matte finish.

The necklace is designed to be worn in at least two different ways. Wear it in classic position as a circlet of chain and pearls gracing the neck, or turn it around and let the clasp, and extension chain, dangle in front (as shown here).
